Designing Custom Water Bottle Labels
By Dana Lee
Water bottle labels have never traditionally attracted the same degree of care and attention as bottles used for wine, nor have they ever had the striking colors and designs of beer bottles. There is no intrinsic reason why this should not happen, though, and spring water especially lends itself perfectly to pictures of the countryside and of clear running water.
Water is usually stored in clear bottles, and the designs which fit in best are those which are light and simple, using soft pastel colors along with white and light shades of blue. A good designer, or even just one with a lot of enthusiasm, can really go to town with this project, and come up with something very special.
There are obviously not as many requirements in law as to what a water bottle label needs to display. There is no alcohol content, and certainly no statutory warnings are necessary advising people of the possible dangers of consuming water.
Some of the other elements of wine and beer bottles are usually included, however, especially the information telling any potential buyer of where the water originates. Many people who buy spring water also like to analyze the mineral content and make comparisons before they buy.
Making Custom Water Bottle Labels
Making Your Own Labels
There are always two stages to the creation of any aesthetic printed material, and these are the design stage and the actual printing. Both of these need to be carried out well if the result is going to be satisfying.
Design Stage
The design stage can be your own creation entirely. If you have the artistic talent, you can simply sketch the design you want completely from scratch, and then scan it in to a computer and have it professionally printed. If you don't feel you have this type of talent, you can always use a good software package to create a simple design which will still look good.
Printing Stage
The printing can be handled by a professional, or you can tackle it yourself if you ave equipment which is good enough. Make sure you have the right paper to use for creating adhesive labels. Doing the job yourself does have the considerable advantage of allowing you to only print off as many labels as you need at any given time. A good quality printer, though, is not cheap to buy, and the inks need replacing regularly. Unless you have a constant need to print water bottle labels, or the printer will have other commercial uses for you, this is not likely to be a viable alternative.
Creating Labels Online
There is another way, and it is a way which is likely to suit most people with a need for label design. If you go online, you can find websites which the type of software you find in graphics programs actually integrated into the site. This allows you to quickly design a good looking label without any need to download software or even to insert a CD. Takes as much time over the design as you need, and make as many attempts as you need. When you are happy, submit your design for printing and the labels will be forwarded to you in the mail. This is the most efficient way to create aesthetic water bottle labels.
