Wine Labels - A Great Do-It-Yourself Project
85Creating your own wine labels at home is a great way to personalize your wine collection. If you enjoy making your own wine, this is a great way to show pride in your work. When guests come over, you can pull out your homemade wine with personalized labels to serve to guests. They can admire your handiwork and perhaps make their own request for you to create a bottle to take home.
Great for Gifts
Custom wine labels also work as unique gifts to give to friends and family. You can create your own bottle of wine, and then design a label just for them. It could have their name on it as well as their picture.
If you really want to get creative, you make the label display just about anything you want, such as a name or photograph that holds special significance for you and your friend. Wine with personalized labels can be given for special occasions and may cost less and are more meaningful than a bottle picked up from the local winery.
Designing and Printing Your Labels
Creating your own labels is inexpensive and fairly easy to do, with the right materials. You'll first need to head to an office supply store and pick up a package of label sheets for the printer. Avery sells a large variety of different adhesive labels in various sizes for any type of project.
Purchasing Avery brand will actually come in handy when creating the labels as their website has hundreds of free templates you can use to create any label of your choice. Search through the many selections of label templates available, create your labels and then press print, using your label paper. They even have free software you can download if you wish to create your labels offline rather than on their website. Find both templates and software on the Avery website.
You'll want to create a label that is most meaningful to you or the recipient of the wine. Your label can either be in color or in black & white. As you are creating your label on the Avery website, you'll be given a choice of fun and decorative texts, as well as graphics to choose from. You can even upload your own personal photo or graphic if you wish.

sign your name on the label of each personalized bottle you create.
Don't forget to tie a ribbon around the neck of the wine bottle if it
is to be given as a gift.Creating your own wine labels is lots of fun and a great opportunity to show just how creative you are.

I had a friend who printed out picture labels and turned label-less wine bottles into a unique photo frame. They made great gifts!
